My POS 2016 Jetta broke again. Notice how I say again. It’s got less than 10,000 miles on it and I have a stack of receipts from the dealer.

The Ram is better optioned and much cheaper, also 5.7 Hemi.

But this Volkswagen has literally killed my enthusiasm for the brand. I still like Audis, but this thing has really spoiled it for me.

Bucking, bronco , rodeo, 8 seconds, I am not funny.

But good luck with it. Are you set on keeping it or would you accept a buyback to get a truck you keep looking for?

I have been a Ram and a VW owner, both of which I would buy again, which says a lot as I have had more than 20 vehicle. My VW was a 2007 MKV GTI, mostly trouble free for 115,000 +/- miles. Only problem I had was a driver side drive shaft needed to be replaced. I have had 2 Dodge/Ram trucks, both 3500 Laramie Duallies with the Cummins. First one lasted 17 years with only minor problems and 260,000+ miles, 95% of that towing and I currently have a 2014 Ram. Only got a new one because the first was totaled. The Ram is currently my DD and has over 60,000 on the clock and also spends a good amount of time hauling. The current one has had the center stack Nav/Radio/Controls everything replaced under warranty.

This is the interesting part.

I had a 1997 Audi A4 with 140,000 miles on it. Never broke the entire time I owned it.

Then I bought a 2000 Audi A6 2.7 Twin Turbo 6mt with 107,000 miles on it. Only things that went bad were wear items.

Then I bought a 2016 Jetta 1.8t. It has 7,000~ miles on it and has broken multiple times.

As terrible as it is, I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one having problems with my VW. I took my Passat to the dealership because two tires decided to go flat at once, plus the air conditioning making the car shake violently at idle and at speed, plus strange clunking noises, plus a strange noise that kind of sounds like a motor of some sort, plus the fact that it won’t idle above 600 rpm regardless of what I do. When I took it in, they had the audacity to say that nothing was wrong despite me showing them the problems myself. I’m aware that they aren’t normal. I’m going back on Monday to see if they’ll pay attention to me. Our last Passat was returned due to the lemon law. I think this one is on the verge of being returned too. As I was telling fellow Opponaut PetarVN last night, I’m done with VW. I don’t want an Audi. I don’t want another VW Group product every again. Although I’ve always liked VW, I fell deeply in love with the brand when the Mk7 Golf came out in 2014. That’s why I told my parents to check out a VW to replace our 2012 Focus in 2014. The day we bought the first Passat, I got to sit in and start up the first Mk7 GTI that my dealership got. I fell in love instantly. I signed up for updates and returned to the dealership once every two weeks from that June until the Mk7 Golf TSI came out. The salesman gave me a brochure for the Golf and the GTI the day they received them. I wanted one so badly. This whole problem with VW left me disappointed and kind of hurt on the inside. I loved something so much only to be let down so badly. C’est la vie, I guess. I just want Minis and BMWs from here on out.

Sorry for the rant. Nobody deserves to go through these problems. I hope you get the truck you want. You’ll be way better off.

Couldn’t help noticing they’re worth about the same as an E46 M3... Why be modern and bland, when you can be retro and exciting?

*M3 won’t loose value!

*M3 is more fun!

*M3 lets you choose between Manual or “auto”SMG, so you dont hurt your knee!

*M3 has a cure for bad days!

Can you trade for one of those with that lovely DeMuro warranty from carmax?

That is just unfortunate luck. I say this now as I may have insulted the car gods or something with my comment earlier. I am currently sitting in a parking lot waiting on a tow truck for the 2014 Ram. Something blew and there is fluid everywhere. It was just pouring out of the engine bay. Not oil, and the coolant appears full.
